Days 1-3 London/Chicago/Austin

DAYS 1-3 London to Chicago, IL to Austin, TX
Currently chilling after two crunk filled nights in Austin, TX in our fucking awesome summer house apartment in the student (and totally crazy good) side of town... swimming pool and hot tub included! We are in a side of town with loads of student accomodation greeted by a frat house and a euro house (although variously quiet) house party, also spotted a kid that looked like he's oded on heroin (complete with a girl nervously checking his pulse but still more focused on laughing with the rest of her friends and a jock shouting fight "Fuck you dude!" "No Fuck you you tight jean wearing faggot" charming!)
Day 1, long journey from Hackney to Heathrow to Chicago (watched four films on the flight mostly the awe inspiring and heart-warming Waiting for Superman- about the american public school system, totally terrifying, worth watching) and then into Spiderhouse on the first night for Trail of Dead, insane little venue with weirdly decorated toilets, met a guy from Carson, TX who due to being the first Englishman he'd ever met asked me if football violence was like he'd seen in movies (weird first question but glad to answer) Everyone else got mistaken for being Australian... which they took offense to... burger at whataburger which was better than you'd expect for post rock out, post 24 hours worth of travelling...

Day 2, met up with flatmate and her workmate (legend!) for a group outing for drinks and dinner, had a horrible waitress who just got even worse despite how welcoming we were to her, let's just say I will not be going back to that bar again this week... but hey I'm not the friendliest of public servants and dont they say the ruder the staff the cooler the place. Saw some great bands at Skinny's Ballroom and the famous Emo's before treading the 20+ blocks back to our side of town...

Day 3 has consisted of another great breakfast and another load of great bands (gonna write them all up for my music blog at the end of the festival for time and ease and sleep sake) John and I then headed to a world famouse BBQ hut before checking out the even bigger than thought Spiderhouse which also includes a restaurant and clothing store in addition to the numerous bars it has... As tomorrow is St. Patricks day (weirdly a big event here) and the next three days are going to be anything other than chillwave, good to be home before midnight.....
importantly although SXSW is by all purposes an industry event, its refreshingly to be around so much excitement about new music and sparks my interest in working with musicians again...
Austin is especially one of the best cities I've ever been to and encounters with the locals have all been good so far, Going to do a full write up of the festival on my music blog at the end of the week, but so far so good, really good to be in America and to be surrounded by some awesome people. More soon...
